Engineering Smart Home Networks will take place at ExCel London on 15 June 2010, reports David Davies. Set to form part of Home Technology Event 2010 (formerly known as CEDIA Expo), the conference’s programme of free seminars will provide a wealth of information for building services engineers and contractors about the integration of electronic systems into significant residential schemes.
The ins and outs of integrating multi-room AV systems, cinemas, lighting control, security, HVAC and other home electronics technologies will be addressed during the one-day event. There will also be a guided tour of the show’s 100+ exhibitors so that engineers can familiarise themselves with the key brands and products.
The seminars will be chaired by BSEE (Building Services & Environmental Engineer) magazine editor Tracey Rushton-Thorpe, who is also working with CEDIA to devise the conference programme.
CEDIA operations director Matt Nimmons commented: “CEDIA members are increasingly working with M&E consultants and contractors to design, install and integrate home electronic technologies on major residential developments. This conference is a fantastic opportunity for the building services sector to find out more about our industry from those who know it best. It will help them appreciate the benefits of home technology integration, and understand how best to specify and design services that allow for the latest smart electronics. And, for those new to the sector, a visit to the show floor will also be an invaluable introduction to the major manufacturers and distributors who work within it.”
