Barco reinvents ClickShare for smaller meeting rooms

Barco has expanded its popular ClickShare portfolio with the introduction of the new CSM base unit, providing a downsized version for smaller meeting locations.

Visualisation specialist Barco has introduced the new CSM Base Unit for its ClickShare collaboration and presentation system. The new system shares technology inherent to the original ClickShare solution – which is now branded the CSC (ClickShare Corporate) – but has been downsized in both capabilities and cost (50% cheaper) for suitability in smaller applications.

Whereas the original CSC can provide content sharing between up to 64 separate devices, the new CSM is designed for smaller ‘huddle’-type meeting rooms – such as within higher education and corporate campuses. The latest version can accommodate up to eight participants, who can share content one at a time onto a central screen through use of the USB-connect buttons.

The new CSM Base Unit displays images up to Full HD resolution – via its HDMI or VGA output – and is fully compatible with both the ClickShare Button and the free apps for iOS and Android. A set consists of the CSM Base Unit and two ClickShare Buttons.

Barco recommends the current CSC Base Unit for users who need higher resolution or a double screen set-up, or want multiple users on the central screen.

“For the introduction of the CSM Base Unit we’ve made extensive use of the capabilities of AWIND, the Taiwanese technology-leader that Barco acquired earlier this year,” commented Guy Coen, general manager, collaboration division, Barco. “This new base unit combines the many years of experience of both design teams to offer a new ClickShare experience. As it is within most meeting room budgets, a whole new range of professionals will discover ClickShare, making the system an essential part of any meeting room’s equipment.”

The CSM Base Unit is now shipping in Europe and North America.
