Willis is a global insurance broker with more than 400 offices in nearly 120 countries, with a global team of approximately 17,000 employees serving clients in virtually every part of the world. The company needed to find a way of communicating with over 1,200 colleagues at once – without them having to leave their office premises.
The company turned to AV Unit, an integrator headquartered in Ipswich in the east of England, to find a solution that would work within their iconic glass Norman Foster designed building (pictured). AV Unit responded by installing 20 giant screens – a mixture of 84” rear projection and 60” HD plasma, depending on the space available – over three floors of the building.
The event supported by AV Unit included a live motivational presentation from Joe Plumeri, chairman and chief executive of Willis, as well as a number of staff awards – all of which could be seen by everyone in the building..
The whole presentation was filmed and the video footage was mixed live on site and distributed via the build-in network cabling within the office. Approximately 400 people watched on each of the three floors.
“AV Unit’s overall handling of the event was excellent from early planning stages to execution,” said Richard Farrow, service delivery manager, at Willis. “They are a really professional and dedicated AV company who exceeded
expectations throughout. Their can-do attitude was very reassuring as the event was an extremely high profile new venture. Feedback received from the 1,200 colleagues at the event was very positive. What’s more, we managed to run the event efficiently with minimal disruption by keeping it in our offices, rather than going off-site”.
