PLASA Focus enhanced by evening events

A total of 130 exhibitors – 21 of them new to the event – will participate in the 2011 edition of PLASA Focus: Leeds, which takes place on 19-20 April.

A total of 130 exhibitors – 21 of them new to the event – will participate in the 2011 edition of PLASA Focus: Leeds, which takes place on 19-20 April. Once again, the venue for PLASA Focus: Leeds is the Royal Armouries Museum.

In addition to the extensive exhibition and seminar components, PLASA has announced details of two evening events taking place in Leeds, with free transport between each event.

The inaugural meeting of the new Audio Engineering Society (AES) North of England group will take place the University of Leeds’ School of Music on 19 April, commencing at 6.30pm. Guest lecturer for the evening will be monitoring innovator Roger Quested, who will address the topic of ‘Point One Pitfalls – Monitoring for Surround Mixing Explained’.

There are a limited number of free places available on a coach from PLASA Focus to The Leeds University, School of Music. To book a place, please email AES North of England founder Kerry-Anne Kubisa at [email protected].

On the following evening, rehearsal, staging, design and custom fabrication specialist LS-Live will hold a BBQ event with drinks and entertainment. The evening will also mark the official launch of The Backstage Academy and the unveiling of its Apple Authorised Training Suite, with plans for a new foundation degree in Live Events Production, to be delivered on site. The Backstage Academy’s range of short courses will commence this month, including the accredited courses from Apple and Avid.
