Robe Launches new LED range at Prolight+Sound

Robe introduces five new LED lighting devices at Prolight + Sound 2012: the DLFWash, DLXSpot, 100 LEDBeam, 800 LEDWash, and Actor 6 all arrive as part of the ROBIN efficiency range.

Czech Republic’s moving light manufacturer Robe is launching five new LED based products at the 2012 Prolight+Sound exhibition in Frankfurt.
All of the products in the ROBIN range – the DLX Spot, DLFWash, 100 LEDBeam, 800LEDWash, and Actor 6 – use high powered RGBW LED, and are part of the company’s enegy efficiency initiative “Think of the Future – consider Nature”.
The DLX is, according to the company, the world’s first RGBW LED Spot moving head. Designed for theatres and TV studios as well as live applications, the device incorporates a virtual colour wheel and a series of pre-programmed ‘real’ whites at 2700, 3200, 5600 and 8000 degrees Kelvin.
Power output is said to be at a reduced average of 250 Watts, yet the strength of colour is believed to be commensurate with the 575/700 series of devices. Moving head spot/profile features on the DLX include: rotating gobos, iris, 10 – 45° zoom, 3-facet rotating prism, variable frost, dimming and strobing of the LED lightsource.
The DLF model is a fresnel wash fixture aimed at similar applications as the DLX, and for professional markets that need versatile fresnel style lights. Its zoom, that starts at 5.5 degrees and goes to 60 degrees, is said to be unique with no distortion, and a diffusion filter extends the zoom range to a further 75 degrees making it suitable for covering cycs and other large surfaces. Moreover, a beam shaping module consisting of four blades is fully controllable, and is rotatable and can be indexable to plus or minus 90 degrees. The shaped beam has a soft edge, and can also simulate fabulous aerial effects.
The 100 LEDBeam weighs in at 4.4 Kgs, the compact fixture has an ‘extremely fast pan / tilt movement. The LEDs are controllable in three zones – top half, bottom half, and middle – for producing eye-candy effects, zone strobing, colour chasing, etc. Additionally, a tight beam angle of 7 degrees makes it appropriate for high-impact concentrated, collimated effects.
According the company the LEDWash 800 is the world’s first LED wash light with beam shaping. Designed for all professional applications – concert touring, rental and staging, theatre, TV studios and production, conferences, presentations plus live events and installations – its beam shaping module is both rotatable and indexable to plus or minus 90 degrees, and it has a zoom of 8 – 63 degrees.
There are also three-zones of individual LED ring control and the zones can also be effectively strobed and colour chased. The colour range – including all the high quality ‘real’ whites are the same as those in the hugely successful ROBIN 600 LEDWash.
The Actor 6 is a version of the ROBIN 600 LEDWash which has been specifically developed for the theatre, performance and TV / broadcast industries meeting the perceived massive demand from those sectors for a fixed LED wash lightsource without motorised pan and tilt.
The Actor 6’s Pan and Tilt can be altered mechanically for accurate focusing, and the fixture features the latest RGBW LEDs arranged in three concentric rings, all of which can be individually controlled. The zoom is an 8 – 63 degrees. Colours are pre-programmed using the virtual colour wheel, complete with the range of pure whites including 2700 and 3200 degree tungstens, which can simulate ‘red shift’ tungsten behaviour, complete with soft dimming curves.
Following its debut at last year’s Prolight+Sound exhibition, Robe will once again have its rock ‘n’ roll nightrider tour bus parked just outside the show as part of the extended hospitality / meeting facilities, for anyone to experience its products.
