Albania’s Eagle Square shines with Martin Exterior 430s

Martin Professional Exterior LED lighting was installed to light a double headed eagle located in Eagle Square, Tirana, Albania in time for the country’s 100th anniversary celebrations.

Installed in time for celebrations of the country’s 100th anniversary, Martin Professional Exterior 400 range of outdoor LED luminaires now illuminate the double headed Eagle in Tirana’s Eagle Square, Albania.

The square was renamed in November of 2012 in celebration of the landmark occasion.

Made of steel and weighing some 12 tons, the 10m tall eagle is the symbol on the Albanian flag. One of the aims of the illumination was for Eagle Square to gain more visibility and become a reference point for the city – in the daytime as well as night.

Eight Exterior 430s, supplied by local Martin distributor Prosound Audio and Light were installed at the site. These now saturate the monument in Albania’s national color of deep red.

Endrit Veleshnja and Xhoni Naci both of Prosound headed up the installation after the company’s sales manager Kliton Gjika recommended the devices to Albi Cifligu who was charged with lighting aspects to the monument.

“The only lighting fixture that can turn black metal red is the Exterior 430 so I suggested it to Albi for this purpose,” Kilton stated. “With its single red LED, the power is massive!”
