The “world’s largest” commercial video wall goes on sale

The new Sharp 70 inch video wall display goes on sale from today– nine months after being unveiled at ISE

Sharp has today (November 7) announced that its 70-inch video wall display – hailed as the world’s largest – is now available to buy.

According to Sharp, who announced its availability during a press gathering in London. the “high-impact” PN-V701 is the largest display of this type on the market, according to Sharp,

Details on UK pricing from Sharp however remain unconfirmed – although a number of online resellers have advertised it at just shy of £11,000 (£10,665) including VAT.

Target market

The PN-V701is the latest addition to Sharp’s PN-V range, which the firm says is proving popular for projects for high end retailers and transport hubs due to its high brightness and reliability during 24/7 continuous operation.

The bigger size of the PN-V701 reduces the number of displays required for a le wall, and therefore the number of bezels (frames) that interrupt a picture. For example, for a 118” (3m) wall, only three 70” displays in portrait orientation are required, compared to four 55” displays in landscape orientation.

Despite its size, high-brightness LED backlight technology allows for slim but robust bezels, for minimum picture interruption, and a light-weight makes the displays easy to handle and install.

The full-HD PN-V701 offers “outstanding” image quality and colour accuracy thanks to Sharp’s UV2A technology and Advanced UCCT (Uniform Colour Calibration Technology). The calibration technology, unique to Sharp, combats several problems that affect standard video walls, by eliminating colour and brightness variations in each pixel to ensure perfectly consistent images across the whole display.

Breaking new ground

The PN-V701 is the first of Sharp’s new generation video wall displays to feature a built-in Mini OPS extension slot for easier integration into a wider range of user applications. The optional HDBaseT module provides a simple solution to long distance signal cabling between the display and HDMI devices, eliminating the worry of trailing cables, or unsightly power supply units, ideal for shop windows.

The PN-V701 70” video wall display is available to purchase through Sharp and its partners now. For more information, please visit
