By the end of this month, Virgin Media will have become the first retailer in the UK to install high brightness digital signage screens in all of its shop windows.
Virgin Media took the decision to extend the use of digital media after a successful 12months using a number of in-store interactive touchscreen videowalls to allow customers to browse and compare the options available.
First on the list of stores to have the technology fitted was the company’s store on Oxford Street. The newly deployed 47in portrait LCDs can be read in direct sunlight and instantly updated with new offers from the company’s head office. These ensure consumers will not experience any viewing difficulties through exterior shop windows in ambient sunlight.
The new solution aims to eliminate past consumer problems associated with the sun’s trajectory, which include the inability to read ATM screens and ‘bleaching’ of POS units through light interference.
The solution has been designed, manufactured and installed by Esprit Digital – a digital display specialist with a list of projects that includes escalator screens on London Underground and huge Westfield video walls.
