Video: Polycom teams up with Amazon Alexa for voice controlled video call functionality

The AI powered Alexa uses natural language processing technology, which allows meetings to be managed using voice commands

Amazon’s Alexa can now start your video calls with a simple voice command: “Alexa, start my meeting.”

The AI, which is commonly associated with smart home technology – such as Amazon Echo DOT – can integrate with a Polycom RealPresence GroupSeries video conferencing system, removing what it calls some of the complexity associated with managing video conferencing.

Calls that can be added to the RealPresence Group Series calendar, including VMRs, Skype for Business, Office 365, and Zoom, can all be started by Alexa.

‘AI is making its way into the conferencing space, and as technology continues to develop and evolve, you can expect to see more and more AI applications become available,’ Andrew Hug VP, systems engineers, EMEA for Polycom told AVTE.
