TVOne CORIOmaster switches and scales video at Hilversum’s Studio21

TVOne’s CORIOmaster video processor is being used to switch and scale video content from video servers and live TV cameras throughout Studio21, operated by RTL Live Entertainment in Hilversum, Netherlands.

Studio21, operated by RTL Live Entertainment in Hilversum, Netherlands, is one of the most modern and complete event locations in Europe, responsible for the development and operation of existing and new live entertainment.

To provide exciting and flexible backgrounds to live shows, the studio has installed several large displays including a seven-projector array covering a continuous 50m backdrop, six LED screens and 21m electric gauze that uses three edge-blended projectors to produce a virtual 3D scene.

TVOne’s CORIOmaster video processor is used to switch and scale video content from video servers and live TV cameras throughout the complex, feeding the individual displays and managing special effects. A variety of source formats are used including both DVI and HD-SDI.

ArjenPels, AV technician at system integrator Hulskamp, was commissioned to install an affordable but complete system: “The CORIOmaster offers many control possibilities and the flexibility to compose different layouts with different sources. It also enables the control needed for large events, where everything has to run smoothly. The CORIOmaster is now the driving force behind the projection system at Studio21. In a show setting, everything is done on the fly. There is no time to reload. Pre-programming is therefore incredibly important for the technical staff,” he said.
