Tripleplay IPTV and digital signage in The SSE Hydro

Tripleplay’s IP based digital signage and IPTV solution has been selected by and implemented at Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games venue, The SSE Hydro.

The latest install joins a long list of sporting events at iconic venues to have already utilised the technology, including the Football World Cup, Six Nations Rugby and Test Match Cricket.

Installed throughout the SSE Hydro are 145 Sony TV screens, which are networked using Tripleplay digital signage and IPTV on site. Tripleplay’s digital signage solution ensures content is streamed to screens located on the concourse, bars and restaurants and on totem displays installed around the outside of the stadium. The Tripleplay IPTV solution, meanwhile, is used to deliver content to corporate boxes, backstage and also in the restaurant and bar areas. The SSE Hydro can also stream auditorium footage backstage for venue management and artists.

As well as providing signage for Commonwealth Games, the new 145-screen solution will offer visual focus for spectators and guests visiting other performances at Scotland’s newest live event venue.

“In our debut year here at the Hydro we have had some spectacular artists and have many more booked, ranging from Eric Clapton, Lady Gaga and Robbie Williams to Still Game and the MTV Europe Music Awards,” commented Tony Edwards, technical manager for The SSE Hydro.

“It’s always a proud moment to see our solution in use in any location, but when you are chosen by such a spectacular and high profile venue you cannot help but raise a smile,” commented Tripleplay CEO, Steve Rickless. “We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done here with the team at the Hydro and look forward to providing all the support and help they need over the coming years and months.”
