Smart-e expands HDMI and DVI offering with new partnership

Audio and video distribution and switching equipment manufacturer Smart-e has expanded its range of HDMI and DVI products through a mutual distribution agreement with California-based Smart-AVI.

Audio and video distribution and switching equipment manufacturer Smart-e has expanded its range of HDMI and DVI products through a mutual distribution agreement with California-based Smart-AVI.

The two companies, who have collaborated on projects in the past and share similar branding, have agreed to become sales and distribution channels for each other’s products in their respective territories. Surrey, UK-based Smart-e has become Smart-AVI’s European distributor while Smart-AVI is now selling Smart-e’s equipment across the USA.

The two companies have re-established their partnership to collaborate and share technology, to widen each company’s product portfolio, access new regions, and to offer 24-hour technical support across European and US time zones.

The first Californian products to be launched in Europe by Smart-e are two cost-effective HDMI Cat6 compact transmitter and receiver extenders with simple ‘plug and play’ functions. The HDX-400 broadcasts high-definition content from a comms or media room over Cat6 cabling to three remote displays plus one local monitor up to 60m away and is ideal for digital signage solutions and home entertainment distribution. The second product, the HDX-100 (pictured), is a straightforward point-to-point HDMI extender distributing signals over a single Cat6 cable over distances up to 60m. Both these products are also available with bidirectional infrared and RS232 passthrough.

Jon Lane, founder and managing director of Smart-e commented: “We have worked with Smart-AVI in the past – it is no accident that their branding is similar to ours. Their product range complements ours perfectly, and allows us to widen our offerings to the European market substantially. This will be especially attractive to multinational corporations looking to create global solutions that need to be supported across international time zones.

He continued: “Smart-AVI share the same focus on research and development as we do, and we look forward to collaborating with them to create some great new products in the future.”

Albert Cohen, Smart-AVI’s owner, added: “I know Jon Lane very well and have always been impressed by his personality and knowledge of the AV field. This partnership will trigger further success and enable both of us to expand our customer base, product lines and technology applications.”
