SiliconCore displays create ‘innovative building environment’

International telecommunications company, Ooredoo, has completed an AV installation at its Doha headquarters, working with integrator Technomight and SiliconCore to install LED displays in its lobby area.

In the third installation within the building during an on-going innovation programme, three SiliconCore Magnolia 1.5mm LED displays were selected for the lobby and events area in Qatar, creating a visual impact in the main public spaces.

The brief was to invest in futureproofed technology, with LED displays selected which can then be supplemented with additional cabinets at a later stage, to upgrade the system to 4K as required. SiliconCore’s LED displays were specified primarily for the leading TCO, picture quality and magnetic-type front serviceability features.

All three screens feature full HD resolution, two side by side as a design statement to host customised marketing content and one 130in LED display in the events area for product launches and open days. Content can be shared across the three walls via a long distance 4K signal distribution system, while each can be treated separately to suit the space being used in a variety of ways at once.

This is connected to Ooredoo’s broadcasting system showing feeds from Sony high resolution PTZ cameras, Philips Showline moving heads and wash lights on motorised truss system to maintain light lux levels to support live camera feeds on screens and a bespoke digital signage feed via an RGB Link multi-window video processor. Fourwinds interactive software makes it possible to showcase multiple pictures and live feeds controllable from the central Crestron Touchpanel, where content can be pushed from the operator’s consoles and smart podium to videowalls at one time and from multiple patching locations suited to varying operational needs.

The broadcast system is also connected to Ooredoo Family TV networking so that transmission can be picked up by other branches throughout Qatar when needed.

AV design manager, Shehzad Hussain, commented: “Ooredoo were excited about the resolution of the display on their Higher Executive Floor and they wanted visitors to have a great first impression. The brief for the whole building has been to produce futureproofed technology that delivered good TCO and long lifetime, which is why SiliconCore was selected. This is the third project we have done SiliconCore LED with Ooredoo on a roadmap which goes up to 2030 to create an innovative building environment.”

For ongoing system operation Technomight provided training for the team at Ooredoo, including managing the system during events and co-ordinating announcements across its digital signage network.
