AV stalwart to race the Sahara for children’s hospice good cause

HDANYWHERE's Chris Pinder taking on the Marathon des Sables to support Together for Cinema (T4C)

Chris Pinder from HDANYWHERE and OneAV is taking on the legendary Marathon des Sables – a gruelling, 250km multi-stage endurance race in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments, the Sahara – to support Together for Cinema (T4C), the AV industry good cause enterprise with a main focus of designing and installing home cinema rooms in children’s hospices and other suitable locations across the UK.

Chris is actively seeking backing from across the industry for the race, which takes place March 27 – April 2 2022, and would welcome support from colleagues, partners and even his rivals in business to come together and help him reach his target of £25,000.

“Known as ‘the toughest footrace on earth’, I’ll be running the equivalent of six marathons over six days in more than 50C heat in the Sahara Desert, carrying everything I need on my back,” explained Pinder, pictured left.

“I want to wear as many logos from industry brands (yes, even competitors!) as I can fit on my clothing and rucksack to help raise as much money as I can. I just really want to help T4C rollout special cinemas to as many children’s hospices and respite centres as possible. Because I believe that places where children are going to spend some poorly days… possibly even their final days… should be as wonderful and as perfect as we can make them! Whether that’s snuggling down with parents to watch their favourite movie, or cheering on their favourite team – thanks to T4C thousands of children with life-limiting conditions, plus their families and carers get to enjoy the escapism of an awesome big screen cinema in a safe environment.”

Together For Cinema founder Ian Morrish (formally international sales manager at ISE organiser Integrated Systems Events) added: “The challenge that Chris has undertaken is quite simply enormous. To go from an occasional jogger to an extreme marathon athlete in six months is incredible. And, to do all this to support Together For Cinema and help give back to our community is amazing.

“Together For Cinema is an AV industry good cause enterprise (soon to become registered charity) whose main focus is to design and install home cinema rooms in children’s hospices and other deserving venues across the UK. Chris will play a huge part in making sure we deliver six more cinema rooms to children’s hospices in the UK. He will see the very real difference that he has made to the children, their families, their carers and the staff at these very special places in the coming months and the huge difference that he will make. I am in awe of what he is doing!”
