PL+S 2016: Martin brings lighting and control updates to Frankfurt

Martin by Harman has revealed a variety of key additions to its lighting fixture, console and controller ranges at Prolight + Sound.

The first new product is the Exterior Projection 500, its outdoor-rated LED projection fixture for the integration of light textures and graphics in outdoor lighting designs.

The Exterior Projection 500 is designed to project images and lighting patterns on buildings and structure exteriors. It has a high-resolution optical design with 7,000-lumen output within a weatherised, IP66-rated fixture for permanent outdoor installations.

“An outdoor gobo projector is a tool that perfectly complements more traditional wash lighting and really opens opportunities for artistic freedom and creativity,” said Robert Svensson, product manager, large venues, Harman Professional Solutions. “The Exterior Projection 500 is an excellent, more flexible option compared to large LED displays and requires less cost and maintenance than venue projectors.”

Another launch from Martin is the M-Play playback and control surface for M-Series consoles, which complements existing M-PC and M-Touch controllers.

The control surface features Force Sensor Resistive (FSR) faders and velocity-controlled pads, allowing users to access playback and function keys of any sort.

The M-Play offers a dual bank system with two separate and independent playback sections, each with their own bank of controls. The surface features aluminium construction for durability, 12 FSR faders, 48 direct-access playback and function keys, and a DMX port. The M-Play comes with one DMX 512 universe for direct control of any compatible DMX device.

“With the M-Play, Martin continues to reinvent the lighting console,” said Paul Pelletier, product manager, controllers, Harman Professional Solutions. “This playback control surface is rugged, lightweight and portable, and allows lighting professionals to interact with shows of any size. It’s the ideal blend of technology, quality and price.”

Alongside the Exterior Projection 500 and the M-Play, Martin unveiled the MAC Axiom hybrid beam and spot fixture.

The zoom and focus capability of the unit eliminates the need for dedicated beam or spot modes and allows for both instant as well as discrete transitions from a high-intensity collimated beam to a flat field spot.

“The MAC Axiom Hybrid represents an evolution for Martin,” said Markus Klüsener, product manager, stage lighting, Harman Professional Solutions. “In addition to the fixture’s extensive set of effects, the implementation of the MAC Viper CMY colour palette gives designers the advantage of unlimited selection, from subtle pastel shades to deep and saturated colours.”

Lastly, the new P3-050 and P3-150 system controllers for LED panels/fixtures were also presented in Frankfurt. The P3-150 system controller replaces the P3-100 and P3-200 controllers and includes a number of new features including thru connections on DVI and DMX, full HD DVI input and active workspace.

“From the smallest Creative LED video setup to the largest LED videowall, we now offer a P3 system controller for every application,” said Wouter Verlinden, product manager, LED Video, Harman Professional Solutions.
