After little more than a year on the market the Pexip Infinity scalable meeting platform has reached Version 7, which improves accessibility, enhances Lync functionality and adds Infinity Connect client software.

“Users can now collaborate on shared content and see participants at the same time, drag-and-drop contacts during calls, and include more users due to our firewall-friendly technology [media-over-TCP] – all while providing the best meeting experience for all users and making virtual meetings as easy as picking up the phone,” said Simen Teigre, Pexip CEO.

Infinity 7 also provides a preview of the industry’s first bi-directional simultaneous multiparty RDP HD video and screen sharing – allowing virtual collaborators to share content and see participants at the same time. This should significantly improve the user experience for Lync users in mixed Lync and standards-based videoconferences.

The new Infinity Connect suite of clients adds another simple way to join Infinity VMRs and make point-to-point calls. It is installable on Windows, OS X, and Linux, and supported natively in WebRTC-enabled web browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera (with non-WebRTC browsers including Internet Explorer and Apple Safari coming soon), the clients deliver core features such as presentation sharing, roster, conference controls, the ability to add/disconnect participants, and more. Meeting organisers simply send a link to participants in order to connect in real-time, allowing any user to collaborate using assets that are already at their fingertips.

Other new Infinity 7 features include: Microsoft C3P support; full Lync gateway, including DTMF support; location overflow automation; support for full 1080p HD up to 30fps; and improved media resilience.
