Panasonic bolsters projector line up with ‘world firsts’

Panasonic chose InfoComm as the show to introduce three new projectors to its line up. All three incorporate HDBaseT technology, with two of the models being lamp free - these are said to be world firsts.

Panasonic has unveiled three new projectors that all feature digital transmission based on Valens Semiconductors’ HDBaseT technology. The PT-VW431D WXGA offers a HDBaseT interface, while the PT-RZ470 and PT-RZ370 provide the same technology in addition to being lamp-free, offering light source operation of up to 20,000 hours. The built-in HDBaseT technology allows transmission of HDMI, other full uncompressed HD videos, audio, control commands all via a single Cat5e/6 LAN cable. Signals can be sent up to 100m (328ft), and when combined with Panasonic’s new ET-YFB100 switcher box, or other switchers with HDBaseT chipset, external receivers are not required for its ins tallation. “We’re always looking for ways to improve user experience with our projectors. With rapid adoption of HDBaseT embedded products across the industry within a variety of audio/video (AV) markets, all with the end purpose of providing solutions for these common installation challenges, we saw a need to support the technology with our projectors,” said Hartmut Kulessa, marketing manager Projectors, PSCEU. The PT-VW431D provides 4,300 lumens of brightness output, while the PT-RZ470 and PT-RZ370 offer more than 3000 lumens. The latter two will also work to two resolutions: 1080p (1920 x 1080) and WXGA (1,280 x 800). The PT-VW431D has a contrast ratio of 3,500:1, is equipped with a pleated micro cut filter helping its replacement cycle extend up to 4,000 hours. RZ470 and RZ370 durability is further supported by the 1-chip DLP imaging device. The projector has a long lasting high brightness and high picture quality thanks to Panasonic’s optical engineering accuracy and cooling efficiency. The RZ470 Series provides enhanced quality with over 20,000:1 contrast ratio. All three projectors incorporates Panasonic’s Daylight View Basic technology for high ambient light environments. The built-in sensor in the projector detects and measures amount of ambient light, and the Daylight View function adjusts image accordingly to the light condition. Other features include the 1.6x manual zoom lens that allows wide range projection from 2.5m (8.2ft) to 4.1m (13.5ft). Furthermore, the PT-VW431D features vertical lens shift function, which moves the image position +48% vertically without distorting the image quality.
