New Imago hosted vcon service uses Vidyo technology

Video technology distributor Imago has become the first European ‘hosted distributor’ of Vidyo’s videoconferencing solutions. Imago has used Vidyo technology to build VaaS-t (Video as a Service-trade only), a hosted service which Imago’s reseller network can sell to their customers on a subscription basis. VaaS-t, which runs over the internet or general-purpose IP networks, removes the need for big-ticket capital expenditure. However, end-users of room-based systems can also use it to leverage their existing videoconferencing capability, rather than scrapping and replacing it. The service also removes the need for infrastructure deployment. “This service will be particularly well-suited for companies that don’t have the in-house IT expertise to deploy and manage hardware and software. Accessing our videoconferencing service will be no more complicated than renting a movie online,” said Ian Vickerage (pictured), managing director of Imago Group, The hosted service is initially available in the UK, France, Netherlands and Belgium. Imago will continue to distribute the full range of Vidyo products. “Imago is providing a great new option to its resellers and customers, giving them access to videoconferencing as a service without requiring investments in on premise solutions that are hardware based,” said Ashish Gupta, Vidyo’s chief marketing officer and senior VP of corporate development. “This new model democratises access to high-quality and affordable video communications for businesses of all sizes, especially the small business segment.” Vidyo’s communication platform is software-based, flexible and customisable for individual enterprise and vertical market videoconferencing needs. Its Adaptive Video Layering technology dynamically optimises the video for each endpoint, eliminating the costly multi-channel unit (MCU). It offers high error resiliency and low-latency rate matching, enabling high-quality video to run over the internet and mobile networks. www.imagogroupplc.com
