Network wallplate keypad from Hall Research

Hall Research has announced the release of UI-IP8-DP, a programmable 8-button wallplate keypad that can control IoT- and IP-enabled devices on a network. The keypad can be programmed to send TCP/Telnet commands to any target device based on pressing buttons or by scheduling events in its real-time calendar.

The keypad’s eight buttons have multi-colour backlight LEDs; the colour and brightness of each button are user-definable as part of the configuration. This flexibility allows users to create keys that toggle between two states or work in a mutually exclusive radio-group. The UI-IP8-DP also provides a relay output that can be used to trigger devices with contact closure control. Programming is carried out using the intuitive embedded web GUI, eliminating the need to install apps.

The wallplate keypad supports PoE, getting power through the LAN connection when connected to a suitable network router or switch. A separate power supply is also included for cases where PoE is not available.

Suggested applications for the UI-IP8-DP include AV system control, home or building automation, interactive kiosks and manufacturing facilities.
