Midwich ventures into videoconferencing

The Norfolk-based AV distributor has signed a new contract with visual communications solution provider Radvision.

The Norfolk-based AV distributor has signed a new contract with visual communications solution provider Radvision. Established in 1992, Radvision provides a comprehensive range of communications products, including video network infrastructure, developer tools, and HD room, desktop and mobile videoconferencing systems.

Commenting on the new deal, Lee Baker, business manager at Midwich, said: “The demand for videoconferencing is growing and the market is now estimated to be worth £180 million, rising to over £450 million by 2015. Travel budgets are being squeezed by economic pressures and the chaos caused by the recent British Airways strikes was compounded by a cloud of dust from an Icelandic volcano that disrupted flights across Europe. Clearly, videoconferencing is more compelling now than ever before and we are delighted to sign such a strong brand. As a leading manufacturer within the industry, providing OEM solutions to Cisco and other major industry players, Radvision has further developed its solutions to include the VC240 desktop solution and the XT1000 room-based solution. With complete end-to-end solutions, we are extremely excited about this deal and the opportunities it will create for our customers in delivering first-class visual communication solutions.”

Speaking to IE, Midwich divisional director Darren Lewitt remarked: “At Midwich, we have identified videoconferencing solutions over IP networks as a market with huge profit potential for our customers. We recently signed a new deal with Radvision and we have made an enormous investment in specialist support staff and demonstration facilities. However, although videoconferencing has taken off in ways that seemed impossible a decade ago, more work still needs to be done if it is to enter the AV mainstream. As the UK’s leading AV distributor, we are in a unique position to promote the benefits of powerful, affordable and intuitive videoconferencing systems.

“Once only feasible for large corporates that could afford to spend thousands of pounds on the necessary infrastructure and training, videoconferencing has now become more accessible to the wider market. Radvision’s solutions are unique and allow any new or current user of any standards-based videoconferencing system to benefit from affordable desktop, boardroom and mobile solutions.”

Demonstration facilities will be available in London and at Radvision’s HQ in Stockley Park, Uxbridge. There will also be a demo room at Midwich’s offices in Diss, Norfolk. Any resellers that are interested in Radvision are asked to call the sales team to book an appointment.

Itai Margalit, GM EMEA at Radvision, said: “The VC market is currently going through tremendous changes and encouraging times. In a period where enterprises as well as public organisations are under pressure to lower costs and become more efficient, while operating in a turbulent economic environment, Radvision is best-positioned to fully support these customers in answering their needs thanks to its proven and market-leading technologies. Adding onto Radvision’s strong E2E offering, the partnership we have established with Midwich is a further important and significant stepping stone in becoming a UK leading VC solution provider. Midwich’s strong coverage and visibility of the market, side by side with its well-established network of partners in the AV market, will enable the delivery of industry-leading technologies to the market.”
