Matrix Display founder to speak at InstallMarket

Daryl Clarke, managing director and owner of education integrator Digital Message, will be speaking on the Education panel at InstallMarket on 4 September.

Daryl Clarke, managing director and owner of education integrator Digital Message, will be speaking on the Education panel at InstallMarket on 4 September.

Clarke was formerly founder and managing director of Matrix Display Systems, a £25 million audiovisual technology business servicing a range of market sectors that was formed in 1991 and sold in July 2008. He also founded AV Jobs, the first AV-specific recruitment agency, which was also sold in 2008.

After four years out of the industry he saw a gap in the market for a consultative-selling style AV business in the education sector, and so launched Digital Message in 2012. The company’s turnover is expected to exceed £4 million in its second full trading year.

Clarke also owns and runs Digitavia, which began trading in January 2014. Digitavia is focused on delivering collaborative technologies into the corporate marketplace, as well bringing several new products and technologies to market in the coming year. Digital Message and Digitavia operate in the Digital AV Group of companies, with combined group turnover in the next financial year expected to reach £8 million, and in excess of £12 million the year after.

The Education panel, to be chaired by Colin Messenger of Futuresource, is entitled ‘Not Your Father’s Classroom; Not Your Mother’s Campus’. The panel will explore how the onslaught of new technologies – including mobile devices, video and audio-over-IP – is changing education, especially the intersection between video and mobile and Cloud. The panellists will address lecture capture, BYOD, and campus digital signage.

“Daryl Clarke will be a great asset to the education panel at InstallMarket,” said Installation editor Paddy Baker. “He is clearly someone with great insight into this market and who knows how to turn a profit from it. I’m sure that delegates will learn a lot from him and his fellow panellists.”

InstallMarket – a one-day conference and exhibition organised by Installation – takes place on 4 September at the Business Design Centre, London, and is free to attend. Delegates are encouraged to register now to ensure that they can attend the sessions they want.
