LED floor lights up House of Mamba

Motion-tracking LED floor installed at basketball court in Shanghai, China

An LED floor at a basketball court in Shanghai, China is believed to be the first of its kind. The playing surface uses motion sensors to help players with training programmes and drills based on basketball player Kobe Bryant’s training regime.

Bryant is hosting the remaining 30 players in Nike’s RISE challenge at the state-of-the-art basketball facility in Shanghai, dubbed the House of Mamba. The House of Mamba is described as the world’s first full-sized LED basketball court, bringing together graphics, video and player-tracking. The LEDs react to the movements and mistakes of players across the court during training and matches.

The Nike RISE campaign aims to help young players realise their potential in the sport.
