Audio company KEF has announced that its new Ci200RR-THX in-ceiling loudspeaker, which has been designed to offer true-to-film sound for home cinema audio installations, is now available.
The speaker has been certified to KEF’s THX ULTRA2 standard, which is said to carry an understanding of the film-making process to ensure that surround sound – in particular for the company’s 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1 speaker systems – is true to the film-makers’ intentions when installed for home audio purposes. According to KEF, THX re-creates the tonal balance of the filmmaker’s final mix for users, resulting in action sequences which are impactful, natural and engaging. The Ci200RR-THX is engineered with design characteristics of professional studio speakers.
The device also features KEF’s patented Uni-Q driver array, which comprises a 38mm (1.5 in) vented aluminium tweeter and ‘tangerine waveguide’. These are mounted concentrically in a 200mm (8 in) aluminium bass/mid driver.
The loudspeaker is made with KEF’s Ultra-Thin Bezel (UTB) design to produce a slim rim around the speaker.
