In the Sports and Performing Arts Category of the InstallAwards (sponsored by PSNEurope), AMX won the Star Product Award for its use of Inspired Signage at the Birmingham Hippodrome. The signage comprises an 11-screen ribbon over the doors into the main reception, over-the counter signage at the box office and three video walls, each made up of six 55in LG displays. As well as creating the signage, the Inspired Signage solutions gives a high degree of control functionality: local control is provided by eight-button AMX Novara keypads, which allow operators to change material and call forward; additionally, an iPad running an AMX app provides full wireless control. As one of the judges pointed out, this is a solution that appeals both visually and functionally.
The Best Project Award was won by Meyer Sound, the only company to win awards in two different categories. The winning project was a new voice reinforcement system for the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. The solution, based on Meyer Sound’s CAL column array speakers, had to cope with a long reverberation time (more than two seconds) be fitted in a narrow space behind a grille, and throw clear sound nearly 50m to the back of the hall.
