HDBaseT certification for Control4 HDMI switch

Control4 has announced that its 8×8 HDMI Matrix Switch has received HDBaseT certification.

In addition to eight HDMI inputs and eight HDBaseT outputs, the Control4 8×8 HDMI Matrix Switch features two local HDMI outputs, eight LAN pass-through ports, eight stereo audio outputs, eight RS-232 ports, eight bi-directional IR control ports, and an Ethernet port. Advanced setup options include sophisticated EDID management to ensure fast and reliable switching between sources, along with a zone lock feature that allows a specific video source to be dedicated to a particular zone.

HDBaseT Technology delivers uncompressed HD video, multi-channel audio, power, Ethernet, and various control signals such as RS-232 serial and infrared over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable.

“With the HDBaseT certification, installers can be assured that other HDBaseT compatible products will seamlessly integrate with our Control4 8×8 HDMI Matrix Switch. Plus with Control4 Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP), set-up is also a snap,” stated Control4 senior product manager JB Fowler. “Once the HDMI Matrix is connected to the home network, Control4 dealers can use Composer Pro software to automatically install the applicable driver, eliminating the need to search for and install the correct and up-to-date driver for the switch or any other certified driver.”

“HDBaseT provides integrators a simple and cost-effective solution for today’s connectivity issues,” said Micha Risling, marketing chair of the HDBaseT Alliance. “Adding Control4 to our growing roster of HDBaseT Certified devices is great for the professional community.”
