Genelec launches new loudspeaker series

Genelec's new home audio offering, the G and F series active loudspeakers, incorporate energy-saving features.

Genelec has extended its home audio product line with the launch of its new G and F Series active loudspeakers.

The range, designed in part by Finnish designer Harri Koskinen, incorporates user-friendly features and contemporary finishes, which the company say are reaction to changes in the custom install market.

Both the G and F series feature a new automatic signal sensing function that switches the loudspeaker to a power saving stand-by mode if no signal is present in the audio input for approximately one hour. The stand-by power consumption is less than 0,5W, and the loudspeaker resumes playback automatically when it detects an audio signal being fed into any of the input connectors.

The compact G Series active loudspeaker easily connects to sound sources such as home cinema amplifiers, computers, portable music players or multi-room systems. The device comprises room response controls, Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) and Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW).

Genelec’s R&D team designed the F Series active subwoofer. Bass response can be extended on upto five G Series loudspeakers with accurate and dynamic bass. Multiple connectivity options provide a convenient connection to portable audio players, computers or home theater systems through their line level outputs.

“With its combination of excellent performance and user-friendly features, the new range builds on the same design principles extending into the hi-fi and custom install markets where aesthetic considerations can be a persuasive influence,” said Terho Savolainen, marketing manager of Genelec. “We’ve responded to this trend by developing a focused product line with user friendly features and some new contemporary finishes specifically for this market.”
