Gefen launches 4K UHD matrix switcher with HDCP 2.2 compatibility

Gefen has introduced the EXT-UHD-88, its next generation 4K Ultra HD 8 x 8 matrix switcher for HDMI with HDCP 2.2 compliance. It offers cross-point routing of eight 4K UHD sources to any combination of eight displays.

There is also support for resolutions up to 4K Cinema-DCI (4,096 x 2,160 or 30Hz 4:4:4) and 4K UHD (3,860 x 2,160 at 60Hz, 4:2:0 or 30Hz 4:4:4). Compliance with legacy HDCP 1.4 as well as the latest HDCP 2.2 protocol ensures compatibility with an array of premium content and sources.

The EXT-UHD-88 has been designed for use with the Gefen Syner-G software. Discovery and Show Me features automatically detect all installed units on a local area network and configure their IP settings.

The web-browser interface provides basic end-user controls such as routing sources to displays, but also has the ability to upload, download and save EDID information from any connected display to the internal memory. These EDIDs can then be made available to any of the connected sources, which aims to eliminate compatibility issues among different sources and displays.

In addition to the web interface, other control options include front-panel buttons, IR remote, RS-232, Telnet and UDP.
