eyevis videowall provides 24/7 monitoring of 8,500km power grid

eyevis DLP rear projection cubes have been utilised by US energy provider Carroll EMC for its new 24/7 control room to monitor and maintain power supplies to homes across Georgia.

Atlanta-based Carroll EMC has a system covering approximately 8,500km of power lines with 25 distribution substations supplying more than 1 billion kWh of electricity annually to almost 50,000 customers.

The control room features a videowall made up of four eyevis full HD 70in EC-70-LHD-1000 LED-lit DLP rear projection cubes with a netPIX 4900 videowall controller and eyeCON videowall management software.

eyevis DLP rear projection cubes was the solution opted for due to its ability to display static content for long periods and estimated 80,000 hours lifetime of the LEDs.

Running the system is the combination of the combination of the eyevis netPIX controller and eyeCON wall management software, which enables the display of any source signal in any size and position on the videowall.

James Layton, manager of system engineering at Carroll EMC, commented: “We selected eyevis as their product range coupled with their technical knowledge was instrumental in our selection process. They overcame the complicated design challenge of using the existing framework with the new cubes to deliver a fully working, high quality solution in a demanding timescale.”

Lee Baxter, sales manager for eyevis, North America, added: “Keeping the lights on for the people of western Georgia involves the continuous monitoring of thousands of miles of power lines and numerous substations and we are delighted that Carroll EMC has chosen the reliability and efficiency of eyevis videowall technology for this project.”
