EV speakers for Greek football club’s new stadium

After more than 50 years with the Alkazar Stadium as its home venue, AEL 1964 F.C. has invested in a new stadium featuring 38 VIP lounges and seating for 16,000 spectators.

After more than 50 years with the Alkazar Stadium as its home venue, AEL 1964 F.C. has invested in an impressive new stadium featuring no fewer than 38 VIP lounges and seating for 16,000 spectators.

The task of devising a sound reinforcement solution for one of Greece’s leading clubs was entrusted to ABISS SA Audiovisual Systems of Thessaloniki.

“Football is played in the open air,” said Simon Kalantaridis of ABISS SA Audiovisual Systems, “which means loudspeakers in soccer stadiums are exposed to the elements all-year round. For this reason, only a device capable of delivering top-class performance reliably in extreme weather conditions was worth considering.”

Bearing in mind weather-related issues and the need to satisfy UEFA criteria, ABISS SA opted to specify loudspeakers from Electro-Voice at the new AEL FC Arena in the district of Neapolis, Larissa. A team from EV’s Greek distributor, Omikron Electronics, was called in to install 34 weatherproof Sx600 PIX loudspeakers in a ring below the roof of the arena, providing consistent coverage throughout the seating area.

“We have installed Electro-Voice loudspeakers in a large number of sports stadiums in Greece already, including the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus,” said Omikron’s Spiros Beratis. “We therefore know exactly what the systems represent for us and our customers. If you’re looking for first-class performance combined with absolute reliability, there’s no getting away from Electro-Voice.”
