Elation provides 1,000ft of LED tape for US hotel lighting scheme

The Sheraton Houston Brookhollow Hotel has refreshed its meeting and banquet rooms with a lighting scheme based on Elation LED Flex Tape.

The Sheraton Houston Brookhollow Hotel has refreshed its meeting and banquet rooms with a lighting scheme based on Elation LED Flex Tape.

Event and meeting rooms at the Sheraton Brookhollow range from an 8,000sqft Grand Ballroom that can accommodate weddings as large as 500 people to much smaller meeting rooms for a total of 15,200sqft of space. As with many hotels that keep a close eye on overhead costs, energy savings was at the forefront of the new design but because the hotel specialises in wedding receptions and cultural weddings, system designers Louis Kong Architects sought a product that offered more than just the typical ambient lighting.

Jay Cid of Elation rep firm PSLP (Professional Sound and Lighting Products) recommended Elation Flex LED Tape. Flex LED Tape provides simple colour washing, effects and pixel mapping possibilities. Nearly 1,000ft of Flex Pixel Tape is mounted in the ceiling covers and sidewall hallways of the various event rooms and colour matched with recessed Acclaim Colour Ray MR colour changing LED fixtures, also mounted overhead in the hallways.

The new lighting system is controlled via 4 Elation Art SSC lighting controllers. The 1,024-channel Art SSC control solution suits the installation’s low energy requirement because it uses minimal power as all operating and programming is done through a web interface. The Art 1024 units provide contact triggers to activate scene, set calendar playback and provide manual control of specific desired looks.
