Sphere Entertainment has launched a custom Exosphere creative display, “Nation of Wonder,” to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, running on the venue’s vast exterior LED display in Las Vegas from July 1-4. The two-minute AV piece traces American innovation from the telegraph, electricity and cinema through to the moon landing, culminating with Sphere itself as a contemporary symbol of technological achievement.
Built at a reported cost of $2.3bn, Sphere stands 366ft tall and 516ft wide and is promoted as the largest spherical structure in the world. Its Exosphere wraps the building in a 268m pixel LED display billed as the world’s highest-resolution screen, while the interior houses a wraparound immersive display and Sphere Immersive Sound, a concert-grade spatial audio system powered by HOLOPLOT.
“Nation of Wonder” will run at the top of each hour from 7pm to midnight PT on July 1-3, and at the top and bottom of each hour on July 4. In a separate creative moment, the Wizard from The Wizard of Oz – currently running as an immersive experience inside Sphere – will make his first appearance on the Exosphere, delivering a special birthday message to the nation.
The activation marks the latest high-profile use of the Exosphere as a canvas for branded and cultural content, extending the venue’s reach beyond its interior programming to the Las Vegas skyline.
