Samsung has become the first HDR display manufacturer in the world to participate in Pantone Validated and Pantone SkinTone Validated, a new patent-pending technology program that allows display, TV, mobile device and printer manufacturers to have their devices tested and validated for authentically reproducing Pantone PMS and SkinTone colours.

Following Pantone LLC’s announcement that the Korean manufacturer had become its newest Pantone Validated partner for both Pantone Matching System (PMS) Colours and Pantone SkinTones, Samsung’s 2022 QLED models are the world’s first HDR displays with ‘Pantone Validated’ approval from Pantone, the global authority on colour and provider of professional colour tools for designers – recognised for their accurate expression of 2,030 Pantone colours and newly added 110 skin tone shades.

“The Pantone Validated program is on the cutting edge of authenticity in technology,” explained Iain Pike, director of licensing & business development at Pantone. “We’re proud to have Samsung be one of the first partners to add Pantone Validated for both PMS colours and skin tones. We look forward to users getting the chance to experience true colour and skin tone within their products.”
