A 12m x 3m LED display from manufacturer D3 is now in place above the A38(M) Aston Expressway, the main arterial road into the city centre of Birmingham, UK.

The display was delivered to Signature Outdoor, which operates only in Birmingham and is the largest display media owner in the city, with a 40% share of backlit advertising sites.

CityVision Expressway, which was unveiled on 20 May, is the third display that D3 has delivered for the CityVision network, and the largest to date. It is comprised of 333 individual 10mm SMD LED modules. Content is driven by D3’s Advanced Element Processor. Launch advertisers featured on the new display include Ford, Stella Artois, Peugeot and Samsung

The display is positioned one mile from the City Centre and faces traffic travelling towards both the Bullring and Mailbox shopping centres as well as the CBD, the International Convention Centre and the National Indoor Arena. The fortnightly traffic count has been registered at over 1.2million, according to figures from the UK’s Department for Transport.

“It is fantastic to see D3 technology powering the growth of digital out of home in the city. Our displays are driven by leading technologies, which coupled with our expert turnkey offering is what really sets us apart from the competition,” said David Neale, director at Dynamic Digital Displays Europe, the European HQ of D3.

D3 has designed and manufactured more than half of all the LED displays installed in New York City’s Times Square since 2006. Among its clients are iconic brands including UNIQLO, Samsung, Disney, Quiksilver, Aéropostale, Victoria’s Secret and Forever 21.
