Lightware and Semtech streamline AV network configuration

Lightware’s TPX extender devices now integrated with Semtech’s AVXT technology for use in classrooms, auditoriums and meeting spaces

Lightware Visual Engineering is joining forces with Semtech Corporation, a global supplier of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, by integrating Lightware’s new TPX extender devices with Semtech’s AVXT technology to streamline AV network configuration and enhance collaboration in classrooms, auditoriums and meeting spaces.

Lightware TPX extenders allow for HDMI 2.0 signal management over a single CATx cable with HDCP 2.3 and Dolby Vision support, and also provide compatibility with Software Defined Video over Ethernet (SDVoE) endpoints connected point-to-point.

“Seamless user experiences are critical for creating effective meetings and classroom sessions,” said Gergely Vida, founder of Lightware. “Participants need to focus on content and engagement, not the A/V technology behind the scenes. We designed our new TPX devices as a new line of extenders that were both easy to use and cost efficient to take A/V extension to the next level. Integrating Semtech’s AVXT extension technology into our TPX devices achieves this goal as AVXT extends multiple signal types over a single cable.”

The next-generation TPX extenders are the first AVXT-based devices from Lightware that extend signals easily for plug-and-play functionality. Additionally, the devices extend signals over a single CATx cable (up to 100 meters), allow fan-less, passive cooling and include Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) management. By leveraging Semtech’s AVXT technology, the extenders are also able to output audio on the transmitter side to send it directly to audio systems and also support bidirectional remote powering.

“Lightware’s use of Semtech’s AVXT technology showcases the ongoing popularity of AVXT to replace existing AV extension technologies,” said Don Shaver, vice president of marketing of video products for Semtech’s Signal Integrity Products Group. “With unprecedented levels of reach performance and robustness, AVXT is leading the new generation of AV extension products and solutions.”
