Christie Captiva: first ultra-short throw HD solid-state projector

Christie is expanding its 1DLP laser phosphor projector line-up with the launch of the Christie Captiva Series. As the only solid-state projector available at 3,000 lumens or more, a 0.25:1 ultra-short throw lens and choice between HD (1920 x 1080) or UltraWide (1920 x 780) resolutions, this new projector gives bright light in small spaces. Additionally, Captiva can be used in portrait mode, opening up creative applications.

Captiva is described as super-quiet, and provides 20,000 hours of high-performance operation. Because there is no conventional lamp, it can achieve full brightness within seconds, and switch instantaneously into standby with no cool-down period. The reliable 1DLP engine allows the projector to be used in 24/7 high-usage applications.

“The Ultra Wide aspect ratio commonly surprises people when they first see it,” commented Curtis Lingard, product manager of the Captiva Series, “It’s ideal for retail and museums to capture audiences’ attention in either landscape or portrait orientation. The UltraWide aspect ratio is also perfect for running one or more applications simultaneously on your desktop in meetings or classrooms – you can see several windows at the same time. And the high definition provides a beautiful canvas to showcase products, information or, with the optional Captiva Touch, engage customers by letting them interact with the content.”

Available with a 0.25:1 ultra-short throw lens, the Christie Captiva Series can be mounted within inches from a screen or wall – in portrait or landscape (table top, inverted) mode – without shadows obstructing the image.

Both the Captiva DHD400S and the Captiva DUW350S are targetted at fixed installations including classrooms, corporate offices, retail, government, and museums where quiet operation is vital.

The high-definition 3,500-lumen Captiva DHD400S offers native 16:9 aspect ratio. The ultra-wide 3,000-lumen Captiva DUW350S brings a creative wide canvas (16:6 ratio) for tight spaces or an unusual but practical workspace for everyday activities.

“Captiva Series becomes even more engaging for viewers when paired with the Captiva Touch and IR pen interactive options,” added Lingard.

Connections include two HDMI ports, VGA (with monitor out), composite video, and audio (microphone and audio inputs. Captiva is also 3D capable.
