Biamp Audia and Nexia for US research facility

Biamp Systems' Audia and Nexia audio solutions were recently implemented at the newly built Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Colorado, US.

Leading provider of innovative networked media solutions, Biamp Systems, has supplied its Audia and Nexia audio solutions for the newly build Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Colorado, US.

The NREL is the US’s primary lab for the research and development of renewable and efficient energy sources. The facility is famous for using the most efficient data centre in America. It houses over 200 researchers and staff across eight unique workspaces.

Systems integrator Convergent Technologies Design Group (CTDG) was enlisted to design and install an audio solution that ensured each workspace was accommodated to its specific research testing needs. The system also needed the ability to route high quality audio, video and data streams into the various conference rooms in order to allow distance conferencing with global partners.

CTDG selected a combination of Biamp’s Audia and Nexia systems. In the control room and one of the labs, Audia was installed for core audio switching processing and teleconferencing. Nexia TC and Nexia CS, meanwhile, were employed for their robust teleconferencing abilities and mic/line level inputs and outputs in labs and conference rooms.

“Early involvement in a project is key,” commented Paul Corraine, president of Convergent Technologies Group. “Our long relationship with [Architectural firm on the project] SmithGroupJJR enabled us to forecast and creatively solve for many unique needs the NREL had, while developing a seamless technological solution.”
