Adlib Audio launches installation speaker range

Liverpool, UK-based rental, installation and event production company Adlib Audio has launched a new specialist division – Adlib Speakers – to manufacture and market its AA brand of speakers.

Adlib has been making, installing and using the AA range for the last 15 years, primarily for its own installations and projects, and now believes the time has come to make the AA series available for re-sale worldwide.

“The company is diversifying as the nature of the industry is changing,” explained Adlib director Mark Roberts. “We have enjoyed great success with these products over many years… and now is a good time to use our experience and knowledge of premium speaker construction and application to expand our horizons.”

Adlib describes the AA range as an affordable high-quality product with robust build quality and a warm, rich and natural sound. A number of high-profile installations to date include Liverpool’s Cavern Club – where the Beatles’ legendary career kicked off – O2 Academies at Bristol, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham and Leicester, plus various restaurants, houses of worship and educational establishments.

Bob Harrison of QMS Music has been retained by Adlib to establish an international dealer network and proactively market the AA product line. He commented: “I am extremely excited to be working with Adlib on bringing this amazing product range to the marketplace, and I look forward to a long and very positive working relationship to establish the AA series in its own right as a leading edge option for those with an ear for quality”.

Currently there are four products available for re-sale in the AA range: the AA61, AA81 and AA121 – containing 6in, 8in and 12in drivers respectively – plus with a dedicated AA12HL 12in sub.

All the AA series cabinets are constructed from premium birch ply sourced in Finland, and are available with a hard-wearing textured paint exterior for installs.

The AA61 is a versatile 2-way passive system for high output applications needing a lightweight and compact enclosure. Featuring a 6.5in neodymium LF driver and a 1in exit HF compression driver, its integral phase plug is mounted on a 90° conical waveguide which is machined into the front baffle of the enclosure. The AA61 can be used in vertical or horizontal orientations due to its conical HF coverage pattern.

The AA81 is also 2-way passive and designed to provide exceptional sound reinforcement from a very expediently sized enclosure. It has a powerful 8in LF driver and a 1in exit HF compression driver mounted on a 90° x 60° rotatable hyperbolic cosine horn flare. The 2-way passive internal crossover enables simple high output systems to be joined together, while minimising the amount of powered amplifier channels required.

The AA121 is a full range compact 2-way passive trapezoidal 450W enclosure, with a 12” LF transducer and a 1in exit compression driver mounted on a 90° x 40° exponential horn flare.

On all three models, the HF compression driver uses solid state (PTC) protection circuitry to shield the unit from possible overload (amplifier clipping) situations. All also include M10 flying points as standard.

The AA12HL600 high powered compact 600W sub was designed specifically to complement the AA61, AA81, AA121 speakers. It can be used as a portable system for performers and for low-end reinforcement in bars or restaurants. Its bandpass design, using dual-chamber topology, offers extended LF output compared with a standard bass reflex design of a similar size and footprint.
