Absen giant 4K centre-hung displays at major arena

Absen has worked alongside Panasonic to install the first-ever 4K Ultra HD LED centre-hung video displays to a US National Basketball Association team.

Absen has worked alongside Panasonic to install the first-ever 4K Ultra HD LED centre-hung video displays to a US National Basketball Association team. The location is Golden 1 Center, the new world-class indoor sports and entertainment venue in downtown Sacramento, home of NBA team the Kings.

Utilising the latest in LED technology, the Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company team, with support from Absen’s US subsidiary, installed over 1,200sqm of LED video, totalling over 33 million LED pixels across Golden 1 Center – ensuring that fans have crystal-clear views from anywhere in the arena along with immediate replays in 4K ultra HD.

“At Panasonic we recognise and are very appreciative of the support we have in working with our great suppliers, such as Absen, to provide our customers with the latest and greatest in technologies,” said Don Szczepaniak, executive vice president, sensory solutions, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Company. “We are honoured to continue our relationship with Absen to deliver best-in-class solutions to our customers.”

The centre hung video board installed at the Kings is over seven times larger than the King’s old video board, KingsVision, at the team’s former home at Sleep Train Arena. The eight-screen centre-hung display features two side-line displays that are over five times larger than the screens currently in use.

Towering 7.3m and spanning over 25m, the video board extends nearly baseline to baseline – longer than the average length of a semi-trailer truck. The ribbon featured on top of the video board is 1.9m and wraps 76.8m around the centre-hung structure, with the baseline displays on either end of the structure 8.5m wide by 7.5m high.

“We were very impressed at the fantastic array of solutions that the Panasonic team installed at the Golden 1 Center, and Absen was absolutely thrilled to contribute to the NBA’s first ever 4K ultra HD centre hung video board,” said Evan Stevens, key account manager at Absen. “The Kings’ new arena is a total revolution in the world of sports, offering fans a truly immersive experience – and the LED video displays are the epicentre of that interaction.”

Panasonic and Absen will continue to collaborate to provide fans with the spectacular experiences that they have come to expect in large sports venues across the USA.
