Williams AV launches amp for global edtech market

Ovation 1880 combines wireless microphone receiver, audio mixer, and 50-watt amplification, and is designed for use in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, and parts of Asia and Africa

Williams AV has launched the Ovation 1880 DECT amplifier (OA-50-1880), expanding its TeachLogic education audio portfolio to international markets. DECT is a wireless communication standard for interference-free audio transmission.

Operating on 1.88-1.90 GHz DECT frequency, it is the first Ovation model designed for use in Europe, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, and certain parts of Asia and Africa.

Built on the same platform as the North American Ovation DECT amplifier (OA-50), the Ovation 1880 is designed to deliver classroom-focused features in a configuration optimised for global DECT standards. The company says it provides a soundfield solution that enhances voice clarity and supports hybrid learning.

The Ovation 1880 combines a wireless microphone receiver, audio mixer, and 50-watt amplifier in one unit.

Per Persson, VP of international sales and product management at Williams AV, said: “As demand for modern classroom audio continues to grow worldwide, the Ovation 1880 marks an important milestone in our international expansion. By engineering it for international DECT operation, we’re expanding Williams AV’s footprint worldwide and empowering educators with tools that ensure every student can hear, understand, and engage in classroom learning.”

The system utilises the 1.88–1.90 GHz DECT frequency band for wireless performance in global markets. It includes two wireless DECT microphone channels and four line-level inputs for computers, mobile devices, and media players.

The amplifier provides 50W RMS output, driving up to four speakers. It offers dedicated assistive listening system output, plus connections for paging systems, fire alarms, and security alerts.

The system features video conference sync with EchoGuard, designed to prevent remote audio feedback loops for in-room and remote participants.
