Nanolumens unveils dvLED flat panel as LCD replacement

NanoPanel 55 brings direct-view LED technology to 55in Full HD format, offering drop-in option for high-visibility applications such as airports, transport hubs and control rooms

Nanolumens has launched the NanoPanel 55, a 55in Full HD direct-view LED display designed to serve as a direct replacement for traditional LCD flat panels. The product made its debut at the ACI-NA & ACI World Annual General Assembly in Toronto, Canada.

The NanoPanel 55 forms part of the company’s NanoPanel Series, which is designed to combine the advantages of dvLED – including low power consumption, long lifespan and zero bezels – with the size and mounting compatibility of conventional commercial displays.

Using Virtual Chip-on-Board (VCOB) technology, the NanoPanel 55 delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution within the standard 55in footprint. According to Nanolumens, the display offers operators a practical alternative to LCDs in environments such as airports, transport stations, menu boards and command centres.

Kurt DeYoung, chief revenue officer for Nanolumens, said: “The NanoPanel 55 is a practical evolution in dvLED technology. It delivers the long lifespan, energy efficiency and zero-bezel design of dvLED in a familiar flat panel format, giving customers a direct replacement for LCD displays that’s easier to maintain and more cost-effective over time.”

The NanoPanel 55 is designed for continuous 24/7 operation, rated for up to 100,000 hours to half-life, and features field-serviceable modules to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime. The company says its efficient power usage and reduced heat output contribute to lower operational costs and a smaller environmental footprint.

Supporting standard VESA mounting patterns, the NanoPanel 55 can be retrofitted into existing LCD installations, allowing integrators to reuse infrastructure and streamline upgrades. Its zero-bezel design also enables multi-panel configurations that create a seamless viewing surface.

With a 0.6 mm pixel pitch and high brightness performance, the NanoPanel 55 is aimed at high-visibility environments where clarity and reliability are essential. Nanolumens says the product’s Full HD resolution and on-site serviceability make it a practical solution for commercial operators seeking to transition from LCD to dvLED technology.
