New startup company Iris has launched a platform that is designed to provide universal control for PTZ cameras through cloud-based software, enabling remote operation and AI-powered automation.
The platform works with over 300 camera models through the Iris desktop application, which allows production teams to discover, link to and control cameras on their local network. For Iris-enabled cameras, the software is built directly into the device’s firmware, connecting to the cloud without additional hardware.

The system provides browser-based control across camera brands, removing what the company describes as fragmented control tools and protocols. A single operator can manage multiple cameras across multiple locations, while remote teams collaborate in real time, Iris says.
The platform’s AI-powered automation handles tasks including real-time subject tracking and framing, which is designed to allow operators to focus on creative decisions rather than technical adjustments.
Iris-enabled firmware launches with support from PTZ camera manufacturers including AIDA, BirdDog, Bolin, BZBGear, Everet, HDKATOV, Lumens, Marshall, NEOiD, Telycam and Z CAM.
Noah Johnson, founder of Iris, said: “Setup now takes minutes, not hours. Our custom drivers unlock every camera feature – not just the common ones – and our intelligent framing tools make operating cameras feel natural, fast, and cinematic. And because Iris lives in the cloud, your cameras are now truly remote. You can manage, access, and control them from anywhere, anytime.”
The platform supports cameras that are not equipped with Iris-enabled firmware through the Iris desktop utility and browser-based interface, which the company says allows production teams to unlock automation and PTZ control features in legacy or third-party hardware.
Applications include houses of worship, educational institutions, corporate communications and media production. The platform is designed to enable remote interviews by allowing users to ship a camera, plug it in and access video and controls through their Iris account.
Chester Lee, vice president of sales at Lumens USA, said: “Organisations worldwide, from corporate and education to government sectors, are embracing cloud-based AV workflows and supporting distributed environments. By integrating Iris directly into our PTZ cameras, we’re enabling customers as well as integrators to standardize and simplify remote-control capabilities, remove hardware and system complexity, and reduce on-site labor and setup time.”
