Exterity and Sony have announced that they have been working closely together to extend the reach of their integrated hospitality solution – comprising Exterity’s ArtioGuest® interactive guest experience portal and Sony BRAVIA® Pro Displays with Built-in Tuner – by enabling properties with a traditional RF network to offer the same level of in-room guest entertainment service as those with a cutting-edge, IP-based network.
This latest collaboration builds on the existing strong relationship between Sony and Exterity and is a natural next step for these two market-leading brands as they strive to offer a first-class service to hotel operators and their guests. The RF-based solution is able to provide the same level of functionality as an IP-based system, including access to a wide range of local and international TV channels and movies, as well as a full, secure casting capability with Chromecast. With the addition of Apps like Netflix, Prime, Stan, Disney+ and more, properties can offer their guests a truly unique solution and enhance the guest experience. The RF-based solution is simple and cost effective to deploy, manage and support, as there is no need for a new IPTV Head End or IP switch network. It also means there is no need to re-skill or re-train engineering and maintenance staff.
Commenting on the new initiative, Jamie Hind, Regional Director for Asia Pacific at Exterity said:
Since we announced our integration of ArtioGuest with the Sony BRAVIA Professional TVs in 2019, we have been cognisant that a large proportion of hotels across APAC and beyond are not actually able to take full advantage of everything an IP-based infrastructure has to offer. We believe our latest ArtioGuest integration with the Sony BRAVIA Pro Displays with Built-in Tuner could be a real game changer for those properties that cannot update their infrastructure, for example, in heritage listed buildings or where the requirement of a full refurbishment is simply not viable because of cost.

Tomoya Masuda, Head of Professional Displays Marketing, Business & Industrial Solutions Marketing, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP), Sony Electronics Asia Pacific added;
We are delighted that the combination of Sony BRAVIA Pro Displays with Built-in Tuner and Exterity ArtioGuest will result in a far greater number of properties being able to take advantage of the functionality and modern conveniences that can be achieved with an IP-based solution, and we look forward to taking this solution to market together.

Commenting further, Hind said:
At Exterity, we pride ourselves in being a forward-thinking, innovative leader in proAV technology, and envisage that this solution will open up new opportunities for customers in the health and aged care markets, as well as stadiums and venues. For those organisations that have an existing RF infrastructure they would like to re-use, we are delighted that they will now be able to benefit from the best of IP features and functionality with low latency RF.
