Spotlight Sound, a British AV and event production company based in Essex, has announced the appointment of Ed Guest as its new AV service engineer. With over 15 years of experience across theatre, live events, and AV installation, the company says he brings a wealth of technical expertise to the expanding Spotlight Sound team.
Spotlight Sound specialises in audio-visual installations, event production, and equipment hire across the UK, with clients ranging from local authorities and schools to national venues and entertainment providers.
Guest’s journey in AV began in school theatres, eventually leading him to a BTEC in technical theatre and a BA in lighting design at Rose Bruford College.
He has worked in senior technician posts at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch and London Borough of Hillingdon venues as well as cruise ship show operations, and national installations for high-profile clients such as Warner Leisure Hotels, Butlin’s, and the RHS gardens.
He said: “The best thing about joining Spotlight Sound has been the inclusion of everyone on the team. I’m out and about a lot, but still very much feel connected to the office and the wider crew. I’m particularly excited to bring my lighting experience into play and help unlock the full potential of every venue we work in.
“Working in AV never really feels like a job, and it’s clear the rest of the team here feels the same way. That shared passion makes a huge difference. My aim is to bring greater efficiency to each project. That comes from preparation, planning, and strong communication, whether that’s with Sam or the wider team. I want to make each job run smarter.”
