PPDS has announced the promotion of Jeroen Verhaeghe to the global role of international business manager for hospitality.
Hailed by his colleagues as ‘Mr Pro TV’, Verhaeghe first joined the organisation – under its original name – back in 1998. During his career, he has held a number of important strategic and product management positions – most recently as international product manager for professional TVs (2014-2021).
As part of further strengthening to the hospitality team, Verhaeghe’s previous responsibilities – which included defining the company’s product roadmap, including features, design, screen sizes and working closely with the R&D team to bring them to market – will be absorbed into a wider team.
The new role will allow Verhaeghe to work even more closely with customers (channel and end users) across EMEA and North America, while liaising closely with the PPDS product management team.
“When I first joined the hospitality team back in 2014, we were at the start of what has become an extraordinary journey – a journey that has breathed new life into a largely stagnant and complacent market, by significantly raising the bar for choice, value and more longevity,” said Verhaeghe.
“The transformation of the business has been significant, and in my new role I’m able to get closer to the market in order to gain an even better understanding of what they need, and to translate that information into creating better solutions. We may feel we have good knowledge of today’s market needs, but complacency is a dangerous thing, and one which is not accepted here at PPDS.
“As a business and as a team we are always proactive rather than reactive and we always strive to be better. In my new position, we will always have our finger on the pulse, not just for the needs of today but those of tomorrow and in years to come, whether that in EMEA, North America or elsewhere. There is not a one size fits all and it’s vital we’re able to cater for everyone, where’re they are in the world.”
Martijn van der Woude, director international business development, added: “Jeroen and his team introduced a truly world class product with Philips MediaSuite, bringing five-star quality and performance to tens of thousands of hotel rooms around the world. It would have been easy to simply launch a pro TV into the market and label it for hospitality, but at PPDS we like to do things differently.
“Our ambition, as with all our products and in every vertical market, is to only enter if we feel we can make a difference. To do that, we can’t just mirror what’s been done by our competitors or assume to know what the market really wants. It’s not for us to dictate to them. Instead, we take a fresh approach, using current and relevant research and analysis to offer something new, innovative and, where possible, truly transformational.
“Jeroen’s hard work and incredible vision, together with the whole team here, has allowed our hospitality business to become both disruptive and envied, quickly placing PPDS as a brand of choice for many in the market.”
