Martin Kling, Kling & Freitag co-founder, passes away

We have received the sad news that Martin Kling, co-founder of loudspeaker manufacturer Kling & Freitag, has died at the age of 54.

Here is the company’s statement:

Kling & Freitag mourns Martin Kling. Last weekend, the former partner, namesake and chief developer of Kling & Freitag GmbH passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54.

Already in the early 1980s, Martin Kling and Jürgen Freitag were developing speaker systems which have also had worldwide recognition since 2000 and enjoy an excellent reputation. The two founders had the greatest successes with the CA 106 compact speaker, which became a type of industry standard in sound technology. Many other speaker systems which were developed by Kling, such as the ACCESS, CA and Line 212 series and the SEQUENZA 10, are still setting standards in industry today. Over the years, Kling & Freitag was thus also able to develop an international position as a leading supplier of high-quality sound systems.

In 2008, Martin Kling decided to withdraw from the company due to personal and family reasons. “I’ve had precious moments with Martin. Sometimes we sat together late into the night and worked meticulously on new ideas for loudspeaker systems. ‘Only the best is good enough’ was always his motto which still applies to us today. Without Martin, the company and the Kling & Freitag brand would not exist in this form. For that, I am very grateful to him!” said Jürgen Freitag.

Since his departure from the company, Kling had been battling some serious health problems. Kling & Freitag will miss Martin very much and our thoughts are with his family, relatives and friends.
