Installation appoints Rob Lane as editor

Lane brings more than 25 years of AV and editorial experience to the role, and will officially take the reins on 2nd November

Installation is delighted to announce that Rob Lane has been appointed as its new editor. Lane joins having spent more than 18 years as a freelance contributor for a raft of B2B AV titles such as Installation, ISE Daily, Systems Contractor News, AV Technology, AV Magazine, Commercial Integrator, and Residential Systems, as well as tech brands such as TechRadar Pro, Hi-Fi ChoiceRetail Technology, and CE Pro.

Lane brings a wealth of content experience having held editorships at a number of AV related titles such as What Home CinemaWhat Plasma & LCD TVHome Cinema Digest, and Custom Integrator. Earlier on in his career, he edited Home Entertainment magazine through which he served as secretary for EISA (European Imaging & Sound Awards).

Most recently, Lane has been a regular contributor to Installation and the ISE Daily, serving a senior editorial role for the latter during the 2020 programme. “I’m absolutely delighted to be announced as the new Installation editor, and I can’t wait to get started,” he said. “Installation is part of an impressive portfolio of renowned commercial and residential AV industry titles at Future, both here and across the pond – and is also the driving force behind the ISE Daily.

“I’ve been lucky enough to contribute to Installation for several years, as a columnist and feature writer, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to steer the magazine forward as editor – working closely with the other publications in the portfolio – in what are exciting as well as challenging times for us all.”

Lane will officially take the reins from Monday 2nd November and will be the point of contact for all editorial queries for the Installation brand. Future’s B2B group content director, James McKeown, added, “Rob is the perfect fit for Installation in so many ways; he knows the AV community, he knows the brand, and he knows content. That combination is very rare in this market, so it’s a very exciting appointment for us and we’re delighted to have him onboard,” he said.

“These are challenging times for all of us but as we’ve seen throughout the pandemic period, AV solutions are a huge enabling force for good for in helping organisations maintain operations or come back online. The exciting part for us is helping to tell those stories, and through our Future network, to start to tell AV’s story to the wider world. I am very much looking forward to working with Rob to take Installation, and Future’s AV offering, to the next level.”

Rob will be contactable at rob.lane@futurenet.com from 2nd November. Until then, all editorial  enquiries should be directed to james.mckeown@futurenet.com.
