Extron appoints PR manager

Kirsten Nelson, former editor of Systems Contractor News and co-founder of Residential Systems – both Future B2B sister publications of Installation – takes on new role

Extron has announced the appointment of Kirsten Nelson as public relations manager. Nelson has over 25 years of experience in the pro AV industry, encompassing publishing, journalism, technology communications, event programming, and hosting.

She said: “Joining Extron is a natural extension of the work I’ve always been passionate about, highlighting the people and ideas driving meaningful change in AV. This new role allows me to bring together decades of storytelling experience and a deep respect for the integrator and consultant communities to help share Extron’s vision in more connected, human-centred ways.”

Casey Hall, chief marketing officer at Extron, added: “Kirsten has a long-standing reputation for connecting people, ideas, and innovations in the AV industry. We’re pleased to welcome her to the team as we continue to expand our global communications strategy.”

Nelson’s career highlights include serving as lead editor at Systems Contractor News for over 16 years and co-founding Residential Systems magazine, both sister magazine of Installation in the Future B2B stable.

She created and launched multiple award-winning editorial franchises that continue today, including the SCN Nine (recognising talented newcomers in the industry), the SCN Top 50 Systems Integrators list, the SCN Hall of Fame, and executive Q&A interview series.

Nelson won the WAVE (Women in AV) Mentor Award in 2013 and was named to the SCN Hall of Fame in 2025. Her efforts have contributed to major industry initiatives, including AVIXA’s Center Stage at InfoComm. She also founded Cohort Assemble, an event series that focuses on creative technology and immersive experience design.
