Tower of strength

With 1600W RMS of system power, 40Hz to 20kHz frequency response and 129dB peak SPL, the MAUI 44 is hard to miss at ISE

The new flagship of the LD Systems active column PA product line sports a powerful band-pass subwoofer with two 12in neodymium drivers as its foundation. The column elements, with a total of 16 3.5in speakers and two 1in tweeters from Celestion in precisely matched waveguides, are attached without any cables.

Specially developed connectors and guide pins ensure accurate and safe installation of the Maui 44, while the aluminium housing with integrated cooling fins protects the speakers from overheating.

LD Systems, an Adam Hall brand, explains the overall performance of 1600W RMS is achieved by two Hypex UCD400 modules and four 200W class D power amps, which are integrated in the subwoofer and separately control the five paths of the column.

The LECC digital signal processor, exclusive to LD Systems, results in natural, distortion-free reproduction even at high volume levels, says the company.

Thanks to its special resistance to feedback and the 120° wide horizontal dispersion, the MAUI 44 is both a PA and monitor system.

To double the bass performance, an optional subwoofer, MAUI 44 SE, can be integrated into the system in a matter of seconds. The active extension can be operated as a slave with the system settings or used as a standalone.

Weighing just under 60kg, the compact column system is well suited for mobile applications as well as for a stylish installation, says the company. Carrying cases and a castor board, which can be secured with butterfly latches onto the subwoofer of the MAUI 44, are available to help transportation.
