TDMaverick extends the reach of HDMI

The options for extending HDMI throughout the home, schools and office are being extended for AV installers, with systems from Vision running signals over WiFi and home cabling systems on show at the TDMaverick stand at ISE 2015.

The Techconnect HDMIW7 and W20 both use WHDI technology, which transmits HDMI with no compression and no latency, according to Maverick, which distributes the Vision brand.

The HDMIW7 has a 7m range and the transmitter is offered in dongle form for plugging into laptops in meeting room and classroom applications. The HDMIW20 has a 20m range and comes with an integrated HDMI switcher. Its remote control can also be used at either end to switch input.

This product can also pass through IR signal, allowing the use of a set-top box remote control at the receiver. The system passes that IR signal back to the transmitter and on to the Sky box.

Vision’s HDMI Powerline transmitter and receiver set allows installers to run HDMI and IR signal over the existing electrical power cables.

It combines 500Mbps Powerline (or Homeplug) technology with H.264 compression. Vision claims virtually zero latency for the system.

The transmitter features a two-input HDMI switcher integrated with an HDMI output which can feed a local display. It comes with a remote so the switcher can be switched from the transmitter or receiver.

For end users, the set has IR pass-through, so they can use a Sky or Blu-ray remote from the receiver location. Cabled IR receivers and emitters are included so everything can be hidden out of sight.
