Smart switch alights on new sectors

Party player: Rithum feels its Switch also has potential outside the residential market

VC-backed start-up Rithum (formerly Violet) will be showcasing its Rithum Switch at ISE 2023. The touchscreen device replaces an existing light switch or lighting keypad and offers control of third-party smart systems such as Sonos, BluOS, Rako, Fibaro and HDAnywhere, to name a few.

The product includes an ambient light and proximity sensor, as well as a temperature sensor which means it can act as a smart thermostat out of the box. The solution is scalable for the installer: by using mix and match plug-ins, they can provide a solution that suits the project and budget.

Rithum says it is looking to shake up the mid-market with its sleek touch panel. While initially designed for residential applications, the company has also seen wide interest from hospitality, hotels and beyond. In order to provide some channel protection, Rithum’s Pro plug-ins are only available through professional installers.

Ryan Ovens, CEO, Rithum, said: “We think there is a great power in having a product that can be repurposed for different sectors and segments using software enhancements. Rather than have 101 hardware SKUs or multiple brands, we are focused on getting as much as possible out of a few well-designed hardware products and providing our customers with the means to monetise software enhancements alongside their own services.”
